The Museum runs a number of summer camps and programs every year. Our focus is to provide both an entertaining and educational experience for Colleton County children!
ACE Conservation Education Crew
A youth-led leadership program for rising 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th graders who have a more than average interest in learning and acquiring more in-depth knowledge about land conservation and stewardship, environmental and nature studies. Program is year round and participants are specially selected by program advisors.
The ACE Zone Education Programs
Programs are offered that are designed to actively engage students in learning about nature, history and the local environment and are correlated with SC academic standards. Teachers are encouraged to bring their public, private and home-schooled classes to engage in hands-on-activities that will further their knowledge of history and the natural world while they have fun outside the daily school environment. Programs are held on-site and include take-home activities. School-based programming is also available.
Program times vary in length and student accommodation. Specifics will be listed with each individual program. Most programs are free of charge. Donations are gladly accepted.
Program times and dates must be reserved at least two weeks in advance. Call Elaine Inabinett at 843-549-2303 to schedule a field trip experience.
We also offer collaborative programming with other local organizations listed below.
- Colleton Museum & Farmers Market
- SC Artisans Center
- Colleton County Arts Council

Summer Scholar’s Camp
It’s a weeklong, day camp that focuses on hands-on Science and Art for rising 6th, 7th, and 8th graders who are recommended by their teacher or Guidance Counselor. The program has been funded by The Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation (12 years) and for the first time in 2012 by The Beaufort Fund of Coastal Community Foundation. The camp is entering its 13th year and is held on the USC-Salkehatchie campus in Walterboro, SC.
